Rodrigo Sorogoyen became interested in audiovisual storytelling while studying History in Madrid, a period during which he directed several short films and completed his film training. In 2004 he enrolled at the ECAM and began working as a fiction television screenwriter.
He worked as director and screenwriter on series such as Impares, La Pecera de Eva, Vida loca and Frágiles. In the following years he directed and wrote Antidisturbios, En casa and Historias para no dormir. In 2024 he directed and wrote several episodes of the series Los años nuevos for Movistar +.

His film career began at the age of 25. He co-directed and co-wrote 8 citas alongside Peris Romano, released in 2008. In 2012 he shot Stockholm, which was awarded at the Málaga Film Festival, where he received recognition for both directing and screenwriting alongside Isabel Peña. In 2014 he directed the short film El iluso. In 2015 he began shooting Que Dios nos perdone and in 2017 he directed the short film Madre, which was nominated for an Academy Award. That same year he shot El reino, for which he won the Goya Awards for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. In 2022 he released As bestas, awarded in 2023 at the Goya, Feroz and CEC awards. In 2026 he releases his most recent film, also as director and screenwriter: El ser querido, starring Javier Bardem and Victoria Luengo.

Rodrigo Sorogoyen’s career has been consolidated through his work as both director and screenwriter in film and television. His projects stand out for their narrative realism, dramatic tension and the recognition they have received at national and international festivals and awards.
