Oscar Martínez is an Argentine/Spanish actor, author, and theater director (he was granted honorary Spanish nationality in 2021) based in Madrid since 2020. Since the age of 21, he has developed an extensive and successful professional career, filled with accolades in film, theater, and television. He has won Best Actor awards in all the categories awarded in Argentina, in the three disciplines, many of them repeatedly, as well as significant international recognitions.
Some distinctions in Film: four Sur Awards from the Argentine Academy of Cinema, four Silver Condor Awards from the Argentine Film Critics Association, Silver Shell at the San Sebastián Film Festival in 2008 (“El Nido Vacío”), Volpi Cup at the Venice Film Festival in 2016 (“El Ciudadano Ilustre”), Platino Award for Best Ibero-American Actor in 2017, Fénix Award in 2017, Silver Biznaga at the Málaga Film Festival on two occasions, and the Biznaga Ciudad del Paraíso for his career in 2020.

Among more than 30 films: La Tregua, El Nido Vacío, Relatos Salvajes, Capitán Koblic, El sur by Carlos Saura, El cuento de las comadrejas, El Ciudadano Ilustre, Toc Toc, Vivir Dos Veces, Competencia Oficial.

He has been appointed to the Argentine Academy of Letters (2017) and is a corresponding member of the Royal Spanish Academy. His first three theatrical works have enjoyed resounding success, both in Argentina and in various countries. His fourth, still unpublished, will premiere in Madrid in 2025, under his own direction. The Planeta Publishing House, under the Emecé imprint, published his book Ensayo General -notes on the actor’s work- in 2017.
