He debuts in the movie theaters with the film The sea inside, directed by Alejandro Amenábar, which was awarded with the Oscar to the Best Foreign Language Film and with 14 Goya Awards in 2004.
After this he’ll work in Antonio Banderas’ Summer rain, and gets a Best Emerging Actor Nomination in the Goya Awards and a Fundación Lumière Award to the Best Emerging Actor in 2006.
Between 2009 and 2011 he films Brain drain and Fuga de cerebros 2 directed by Fernando González Molina and Carlos Therón respectively. He also works in the international production Imago Mortis filmed in English language, directed by Stefano Bessoni, co-starring Geraldine and Oona Chaplin.
He has done many jobs for television. Some of these are Arrayán for Canal Sur, El comisario for Telecinco, Mis adorables vecinos for Antena 3, Pelotas for Televisión Española, or Acusados for Telecinco—for which he was nominee to the Best Supporting Actor in the Unión de Actores Awards 2011.
On stage he has worked in El león en invierno by James Goldman, La gala de los teatros by Juan Carlos de la Fuente, Antígona under the direction of Mauricio García Lozano, or Lúcido by Amelia Ochandiano. In 2026 he takes part in the play Canada, directed by Borja Rodríguez.
In 2014 he shoots Embarazados, directed by Juana Macias, and has the leading role in a El ministerio del tiempo episode for Televisión Española.
A year later he takes part in the tvmovie Conexiòn Almería on the channel Canal Sur. He’s also part of the cast in Carlos V: El Emperador. In 2016 he participates in the theatre production of La Ciudad Borracha directed by Enio Mejía.
In 2017 he’s back on stage with the play Buffalo directed by David Barrocal. He also comes back to our TV screens with the series Derecho a soñar. One year later he’s in the play Hipólito, directed by Emilio del Valle, at the International Festival of Classical Theatre. In 2020, he joined the cast of the Amazon Prime Video series El internado: Las Cumbres and appeared in the final season of La casa de papel on Netflix.
One of his most remarkable television works is the series Amar es para siempre, where he appeared in over eighty episodes aired in 2022. Alberto played the role of Marcos, a thief who is imprisoned but manages to escape with the loot, not without falling in love with his lawyer along the way. Recently he has participated in the second season of Sentimos las molestias, available on Movistar +. His next project is the series La Moderna, for RTVE Play.
